Skate-A-Round ProgramWe expect you to be in the harbour of Enkhhuizen at 12.00 o'clock. There you'll board the sailing ship, meet the crew and your fellow passengers, and then you take off to inline skate across the bank to Medemblik (about 26 km).![]() Meanwhile, your ship sails to meet you in Medemblik. In the evening you enjoy a convivial evening on board. After spending the first night on board, you sail across the Frisian Sea to the Island of Texel. In the afternoon, you make a circuit inline skate tour of the island on skates (40 km). In the evening you are free to have a look around one of Texel's villages. From the harbour at Oudeschild you sail to Den Oever, where you can choose to go on a inline skating trip across the sea-dam to Makkum (about 40 km). If you prefer to sail, you can stay on board the ship for a voyage to Makkum. You spend the night here in the pleasant harbour. The next day you inline skate along part of the route of the famous Elfstedentocht, the Eleven Towns race. You will skate from Makkum via Stavoren to Heeg (about 50 km). If the weather is bad, we will stay in Stavoren. There you can participate in an inline skating workshop for advanced skaters.
The last day, you can participate in an optional 'early-bird inline skating tour'. From Stavoren you sail back across the IJsselmeer to Enkhuizen. Enjoy the fresh wind while you still can, because before you know it you are mooring once more in the harbour at Enkhuizen, and it is time to disembark. (The Friday Night Skate Amsterdam could be your tasty skate dessert.) Every day it's up to you whether you go with us on the inline skatetours or you stay on the ship. Thank you, Klaus Where will I stay?The ship used during the skating & sailing holiday on the IJsselmeer and the Frisian Sea is a traditional and comfortable sailing ship. Many of these ships served as cargo ships at the beginning of the last century and were subsequently completely refurbished and fitted with all the modern conveniences.In addition, there is a pleasant day lounge and a fully equipped galley. All the ships have hot and cold running water, toilets and showers on board. On deck there is plenty of room to take an active part in sailing the ship or to simply relax and enjoy the sailing adventure. The number of stars of each ship is determined by independent experts of the ANWB on behalf of the CLAWA foundation. The number of stars indicate the degree of comfort on board of the ships. Bedding Your bed on board is supplied with a mattress, a sheet and a pillow (without pillowcase). ![]() Meals on board The package price includes bed and breakfast and lunch. Breakfast and lunch consists both out of various types of bread with cold meats, cheese, and sweet spreads, plus coffee and tea. Beverages are available on board. You should settle your bar bill with the skipper at the end of the voyage. You are not allowed to bring your own beverages on board. Once on board, the crew will discuss the final route with the guests and adapt it, if possible, to the guests' wishes. Of course, the routes all depend on the weather conditions, tides and current circumstances which could make it necessary to change the route. Your travelling companions Your will come from various countries. Ages vary from young to old. Inline skate Levels: fitness and speed. Sailing experience You don't need any experience with sailing to take part in these sailing trips. The crew, who is qualified and experienced, are happy to show you the ropes so that you can make it an active holiday.
Lending a hand on board Lending a hand with the sailing and other small jobs is a pleasant part of an active holiday, and is more or less expected of everyone. Examples of the kind of work in which the crew appreciate your help are executing sailing manoeuvres, steering, navigating and ropework. Cathy's Discoveries joined us and took care of the food.
